For two seasons, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast has tip-toed around costar Kim Richards' bizarre behavior. But on Monday's episode of the Bravo hit, the 46-year-old former child star revealed that her slurred speech is the result of a combination of prescription medications.
While meeting with Adrienne Maloof's plastic surgeon husband, Dr. Paul Nassif, Kim said she's taking Lexapro (anti-anxiety), Trazadone (antidepressant) and Topamax (an anti-seizure medication that can also be used to treat alcoholism).
"All three? I'm glad you told me this, because now it all makes sense," Nassif said. "It's going to make you slur your words a little bit. It's going to make you out of it. I've had patients who come in on two or three of these combined, and I thought they were drunk."
"You have that sedated look on you right now," he added, which shocked Kim.
Nassif warned the single mom not to consume any alcohol while taking so many prescription pills. "I haven't had any for a long time," she assured him. "To mix anything with those medications would be very dangerous."
Kim -- who was once accused of using crystal meth by costar Brandi Glanville -- was also advised to discuss modifying her dosages with her therapist.
The reality star's medical update wasn't the only bombshell she's dropped this season: Kim recently told her sister Kyle, 42, that she's been secretly dating financial adviser Ken Blumenfeld for more than a year -- and they plan to move in together.
"For a long time I've done everything for my kids, for mom, for everybody else," Kim explained. "I haven't really done anything that I wanted to do. For once in my life I just want to do something that I want to do."source
