Tiger Woods Press Conference

According to numerous news sources, Tiger Woods has called a press conference for this morning to be televised on The Golf Channel at 11:00am EST. Rumors are already flying as to what Woods will "announce", but since he has only invited his "friends in the media" to the presser, it wil likely be something relatively interesting.

In my opinion, this all seems rather "LeBron - like" in terms of garnishing some attention away from the British Open, which is poor form by Tiger. We already know he's not playing in the Open; why hold another press conference to tell us the same thing?

EDIT: As of 9:45am EST, Woods' agent is now stating that no announcement will be made today. In fact, the original Golf Channel tweet "announcing" the press conference has also been removed.

Second, the idea the golf media can only cover one story at a time is ludicrous. Is the Viking Classic stealing attention from the British Open? Should the US Women’s Open postpone play until next Monday to clear the decks for the British?

Unless Tiger admits he killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, I don’t think anything he says is going to cause anyone in Sandwich to pack up their notebooks and rush to Orlando.
