Just last week we learned that an offer was out to Thor star Chris Hemsworth to take the lead male role in Universal's fairytale story Snow White and the Huntsman. Now Showblitz reports the Australian actor is now in talks to take a role which Universal has had some trouble filling. Names like Viggo Mortensen, Hugh Jackman, Joel Edgerton and more have been mentioned, but getting a name actor to step into the role has been difficult for the studio. But after Hemsworth led the $65 million box office champ this past weekend with Marvel's Thor, his addition to the cast should be good for this big budget fairytale. The retelling of The Brothers Grimm fairytale actually makes the huntsman a more integral character who becomes Snow White's protector and mentor, in order to help her thwart the evil queen played by Charlize Theron. Meanwhile, the dashing young prince will be played by Sam Claflin who will be more recognizable after appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides later this month, and Kristen Stewart is playing the titular princess. It'll be interesting to see of Rupert Sanders' fairytale can shake a stick at Tarsem Singh's gestating Snow White film as both will hit theaters next year. Thoughts?
Chris Hemsworth definitely has screen presence. He's a likeable guy. Im not really interested in fairytales, so i'll have to see a trailer to be sold. He'll be one of the 'IT' guys in Hollywood next year for sure.
Wow-that was leap of imagination. Some Hollywood suit must have seen the THOR trailor and thought: Beard+blond+Cape=WOODSMAN! The only thing different will be that the woodsman has an axe instead of a hammer. Creative Casting? NOT!
