Elizabeth Taylor Passed Away ,God rest her soul.Review.
Elizabeth Taylor, the actress who dazzled generations of moviegoers with her stunning beauty and whose name was synonymous with Hollywood glamour, died on Wednesday of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, her publicist, Sally Morrison, told The Associated Press. She was 79.
In a world of flickering images, Elizabeth Taylor was a constant star. First appearing in film at the age of 9, she grew up on screen, never passing through an awkward age. It was one quick leap from “National Velvet” to “A Place in the Sun” and from there to “Cleopatra” as she was indelibly transformed from a vulnerable child actress into a voluptuous film queen.
In a career of more than 70 years and more than 50 films, she won two Academy Awards as best actress, for her performances as a call girl in “Butterfield 8” (1960) and as the acid-tongued Martha in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” (1966). Mike Nichols, who directed her in “Virginia Woolf,” said he considered her “one of the greatest cinema actresses.”
In a statement reported by ABC News, her son Michael Wilding said: “My Mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love. Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world.”
10:10 pmI have worn White Diamonds, Elizabeth's perfume, for years. It always makes me feel glamorous! Good night, beautiful princess. Good night. Sleep well.
10:10 pmElizabeth Taylor was an incomparable beauty who was also a talented actress. She was sultry and heart stopping in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and ranting and raging in "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” She was also reputed to be a good friend who stood against the prejudices of Hollywood. She was one of the first celebrities to push for funds for AIDS research.
10:10 pmI knew this day would someday come ... and here it is. If she wasn't the most beautiful, most classy woman in cinema in our lifetime, I don't know who was. What an incredible career. What a vibrant life. Truly, there was no one like her, and I doubt there ever will be ever again. Dear Elizabeth, rest in peace. I will never forget you.
10:10 pmTaylor had a very public life, and she frequently was fodder for the tabloids. But I don't recall her ever doing anything even remotely as shameful, degrading or tasteless as the usual antics of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and the like.
10:10 pmI remember, as a child, seeing a huge billboard for the movie "Cleopatra" near Times Square, with Ms. Taylor lying on her side in a golden costume. I thought it was her finest effort. Time marches on and as we age we watch those who were luminaries in our youth leave us one by one.
10:10 pmSuch a terrible loss. Miss Taylor was always able to combine strength and vulnerabilty in all her ferocious performances, bringing grace and wit and even cussedness to all her roles.
10:11 pmStellar beyond compare. Words cannot capture her achievements both as an actress and humanitarian, especially in the AIDS arena when Hollywood and the world turned its back on this devastating disease. What a glorious legacy she leaves to the ages! Rest in peace.
10:11 pmNo debate: Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful woman in the movies. Rest in peace, Elizabeth: hope you and Richard bump into each other again.
10:11 pmShe was amazing , an icon who was present even when she was not in movies anymore , her beauty was present inside as well outside of her . This feels like the end of an era and she will be remembered. God Bless Her Soul.
10:11 pmNo matter what else may be said about Elizabeth Taylor, she was a first-class fighter for those afflicted with AIDS--at a time when everyone else ignored it or ran away from it, she went fully into the fray. For this, she has my total respect and admiration.
10:11 pmWow. I am shocked. I had National Velvet paper dolls when I was a kid. She and her romantic antics were part of my childhood background noise. Eddie Fisher, Richard Burton, Debbie Reynolds, Sybil Burton. Pale stuff by today's standards. But she was truly a beautiful woman. I can't think of any modern actress who even comes close to the screen beauties of that age. God rest her soul.
