INNISFAIL, Australia (AFP) – A terrifying cyclone barrelling towards … Power lines and trees were felled along the coast by early gusts, with an offshore weather station clocking 185 kilometres an hour winds before it was destroyed.

Its impact will go beyond the borders of Australia, as much of the region will feel its wrath. At the time of this writing, the storm was only hours away from making landfall. Already, the weather service has recorded gusts of over 120 mph.

Australian leaders issued dire warnings of potential devastation … were likely to flood significant areas along the coast, the weather bureau said.
