Lake Mary Prep junior Ray Lewis III broke his own school rushing record with 384 yards and five touchdowns on 27 attempts to carry the Griffins (3-0, 1-0) to a wild 60-36 Class 2A, District 4 football win over host Foundation Academy (1-1, 0-1) on Friday night.
The big outing came a week after Lewis had only three carries while resting a sore shoulder in a 6-0 win over Windermere Prep.
“Our game plan was keep the ball in our hands, out of their hands, and keep the clock running as much as possible,” said LMP coach Sheddrick “Buck” Gurley.
Foundation quarterback Brendon Tillett completed 19 of 38 pass attempts for 263 yards and four TDs with eight different receivers making at least one catch.
The previous rushing highs for Lewis were272 yards in a win over Mount Dora Bible last season, 262 in a loss to Central Florida Christian Academy two years ago, and 260 in a win vs. CFCA last season.source
