You might want to watch out for laser-wielding robots today. As fans of the "Terminator" film series and TV show can tell you, the U.S. military defense system portrayed in "Terminator" called "Skynet" - which was a trending topic for the past couple of days - became "self-aware" on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

That means that "Judgment Day," the start of a nuclear holocaust caused by the machines who then wage war on humanity, is upon us: it's scheduled for today's date, as seen on the short-lived TV series, "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

Judgment Day was supposed to take place on August 29, 1997, as seen in the original films, but obviously that had to change in the 2008-2009 TV series when Sarah and John Connor traveled through time and postponed it 14 years.

Cameron mused about it in a statement to TMZ: "Now instead of nuclear war and the machines taking over, we need to worry about global climate change. And the machines taking over. With everybody going through their lives bent over their Blackberries all day long, you could even argue the machines have already won."

And Kevin C. Tofel chimed in with, "Just realized why Skynet didn't take over as planned: it couldn't afford the mobile broadband costs to connect all of the machines."
