(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider DreamHost (www.dreamhost.com) announced it will begin offering dedicated hosting plans with unlimited bandwidth starting March 21.
The addition of dedicated servers rounds out DreamHost's portfolio, which consists of shared servers and virtual private server hosting, along with domain name registration.
The entry-level bundle includes a server with a Linux operating system, a dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and one dedicated static IP address.
All of DreamHost's dedicated server bundles include an unmetered data transfer bandwidth and an automatic managed backup of the entire website.
Subscribers never have to worry about paying surprise bandwidth overage charges or losing all of their data due to a hard drive failure.
DreamHost is one of a few emerging hosting providers in recent years that have introduced unmetered bandwidth, dedicated hosting plans in order to have a competetive edge in a saturated playing field.
Unmetered bandwitch is certainly a double-edged sword, as it means that the provide will not be able to gain revenue from bandwidth charges, but it can also be a worthwhile move if it attracts enough new customers.
The new dedicated servers are housed in a secure data center located in a downtown Los Angeles that is owned and operated by DreamHost.
All of the bundles include 24-hour live support, a guaranteed 4-hour hardware replacement policy, and up to three callbacks per month from an expert technical support representative.
