
Tourist World Travel Service at Katong Shopping Centre was found to be closed yesterday. Complaints against it centred on air tickets that had not been booked after customers had paid up, demands to top up what had been paid for packages, and tickets with incorrect dates.
TRAVEL agency Tourist World Travel Service (TWTS), which has attracted the ire of customers for months, no longer holds a valid Travel Agents Licence.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) - which regulates tour agencies - announced this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that it had received an increasing number of complaints against TWTS since February last year.
The STB did not provide figures but checks with the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) showed that the watchdog received 16 complaints against TWTS from January to last month, a rise from seven for all of last year and two in 2009.
The number of complaints about travel agencies that Case received in the first nine months of this year. There were 994 for the whole of last year and 1,062 in 2009.
