Alvin And The Chipmunks Songs

The owner of the Alvin And The Chipmunks franchise has filed a lawsuit against the producers of a Chipmunks tribute album, which is available on iTunes, Amazon and other digital stores, which he has labeled an “artistically inferior knockoff”.

Alvin And The Chipmunks were created in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian Snr and have so far grossed over $ 1billion (£625 million) from their long-running TV series, various feature films and musical releases.

Bagdasarian Productions is clamining that rival firm the Jerry Naylor Company has distributed a digital album entitled ‘A Tribute To Alvin And The Chipmonks’ which features a nearly identical set of songs to past Chipmunks hits, including ‘The Chipmunk Song’ and ‘Mess Around’.

The lawsuit comes despite the fact that the tribute release has spelt Chipmonks with an ‘o’ and has also re-recorded past hits from other artists, including Ray Charles. Bagdasarian Productions have stated that they believe the tribute album infringes its trademarks and is likely to confuse the public on its source of origin.
