
According to the court papers, the divorce was filed earlier this week and the 61-year-old rocker has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. In the official court papers, Peter Frampton has also requested for joint legal custody and visitation rights for the couple's 15-year-old daughter, Mia.
The singer has requested that Christina Elfers get physical custody of the couple's minor daughter, while he would retain visitation rights. Peter Frampton states that he and Elfers parted their ways on New Year's Eve that is Dec. 31, 2010.
Back in 2000, Christina Elfers said about her husband, "What won me over is his tenderness, his romantic side." However, now the couple has taken the big decision mutually.
Peter Frampton, who is the resident of the Cincinnati suburb of Indian Hills, Ohio, tied the knot to the former Tina Elfers of another Cincinnati suburb, Reading, Ohio, in 1996. To keep his wife closer to family, Frampton moved from Nashville, Tenn. in 2000.
The couple had been living in the Los Angeles area for more than a year as their daughter, Mia, pursued her acting career at Los Angeles area high school. Frampton's daughter has made appearances in "Bridesmaids" and "That's What I Am" to show her acting talents. The teen star attended grade school in Indian Hill.
Actress Mia Rose Frampton also plays Becca Keeler, younger sister of champion gymnast Payson Keeler, on the ABC Family show "Make It Or Break It". Besides Mia, Peter Frampton has an adult daughter, Tiffany, from his previous relationship.
This is Peter Frampton's third divorce. The couple met in the late 1970 and wed in 1996. Earlier, Peter Frampton married Mary Lovett, a former model, and divorced her in 1973 after three years of togetherness.
Later, he married Barbara Gold, with whom he has two adult children. The couple terminated their marriage in 1993 after about 10 years.
The talented rocker Peter Frampton skyrocketed to fame in the 1970s and has released more than a dozen studio albums, including hit songs such as "I'm In You" and "Do You Feel Like We Do". He also won a Grammy for his 2006 album Fingerprints.
The singer recently began a tour of USA, Canada and Europe to commemorate the 35th anniversary of his 1976 double live album titled Frampton Comes Alive! The tour will end on November 23 in Paris, France.
