'The Lincoln Lawyer' is a gripping legal thrilleris based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novel

'The Lincoln Lawyer' is a gripping legal thriller starring Matthew McConaughey. Matthew plays Michael 'Mick' Haller, a slick, charismatic Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln Continental sedan.

Having spent most of his career defending petty, gutter-variety criminals, Mick unexpectedly lands the case of a lifetime: defending a rich Beverly Hills playboy Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe) who is accused of attempted murder. However, what initially appears to be a straightforward case with a big money pay-off swiftly develops into a deadly match between two masters of manipulation and a crisis of conscience for Haller.

'The Lincoln Lawyer' is directed by Brad Furman and written by John Romano. The film is based on Michael Connelly's bestselling novel of the same name. It's an excellent book and the film, in my opinion, does it justice.

Matthew McConaughey does a killer job capturing Mickey's complex character. Mick is a guy financially living on the edge, trying to support his ex wife, Maggie (Marisa Tomei) and his young daughter. He defends people that are not society's finest citizens...prostitutes, drug addicts and your basic petty criminal. Mick is a wheeler dealer kind of a lawyer. Most of his cases he pleads out so he hardly ever has to go to trial. He drinks too much, defends people that are probably guilty, but what makes the audience root for Mickey, is that we see in him, a guy who really cares...about the law and about his clients.

Haller finds out that an ex client Jesus Martinez (Michael Pena) who's been in jail for two years, is innocent. He didn't believe Martinez when he said he wasn't guilty so Mick got him to take a plea. Now Mick won't stop until he gets Martinez freed. This not only puts people Mick cares about in danger, but it brings him in direct conflict with his client Roulet and that's when things get really interesting.

The supporting cast is great. William H. Macy plays Frank Levin, Mickey's close friend and investigator, John Leguizamo is Val Valenzuela, a bail bondsman who would sell out his own mother and father if need be, Josh Lucas portrays Ted Minton, the Assist. D. A. who goes up against Mick in court. Frances Fisher is great as Ryan's icy wealthy mother who will stop at nothing to save her son.

'The Lincoln Lawyer' is a legal thriller that is filled with twists and turns. 'The Two Jews On Film' share different views as usual. See the film and let us know who you agree with. The film opens in theaters Friday March 18, 2011.
