INDOT:The Indiana Department of Transportation
ALBANY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Albany Subdistrict’s 28 drivers are attempting to clean the ice and snow from nearly 1100 miles of roadway. Last night’s mixture of sleet, snow, freezing rain and high winds left roadways covered and slick.
The Blizzard of 2011 has struck, leaving no area untouched by dense, deep snow. Snow that fell in one place was picked up and whipped by “blizzard quality” winds overnight. Impassable roads are the norm throughout Michiana Wednesday morning.
Ice bent over small trees, downed power lines and slowed retail business as residents of the Wabash Valley endured the first bitter storm of February.
