Evangel DE Jermauria Rasco picks LSU football program

By Jim Kleinpeter

Jermauria Rasco made the drama worth the wait for LSU fans when he announced he would sign a national letter of intent with the Tigers in a ceremony at Evangel on Wednesday.

Rasco, a 6 feet 3, 227-pound playmaker, picked LSU ahead of Florida State, Florida and Texas. He added to the drama by sitting at a table with Texas and Florida gear, then donning a purple and gold LSU cap and opening his coat to reveal a white LSU jersey with No. 7 on it.

He had 21 quarterback sacks among his 92 tackles as he led the Crusaders to the 2010 Class 2A title.

Rated a four-star player by Rivals.com and a five-star by Scout.com, Rasco was the last recruit signed by the Tigers on a bountiful day, which saw them bring in another top 10 recruiting class with 22 signatures.

The Tigers missed out on Lake City, Fla., defensive tackle Tim Jernigan, who signed with Florida State. LSU may be in the running for defensive end Javedeon Clowney, who said he will announce his decision on Feb. 14. Sources said he may visit LSU before making his decision.
