Katharine McPhee In ‘GQ’

Katharine McPhee’s new TV show Smash, a music-filled dramedy about the development of a Broadway musical, premieres tonight on NBC, and she’s doing her best to make sure everyone — especially straight men — tune in. “I can understand why guys wouldn’t be into Glee,” she says, acknowledging the comparisons made between the two shows. “You know, that’s a pretty heavy musical show. That show does, like, six songs in an episode. We’ll do, at most, three.”

How else is she convincing straight men to check out Smash? By promising nudity! “What if I tell your readers that in episode five I take off all my clothes?” Wait, does that actually happen?! “I mean… no.” McPhee laughs. “But can’t we just say that?”

That would certainly disappoint many people looking forward to seeing the American Idol alum in a variety of sexy, compromising positions. Good thing they have your GQ photo shoot to enjoy!
