Starving Secrets with Tracey Gold

Tracey Gold speaks about 'Starving Secrets'

Former “Growing Pains” star Tracey Gold is hosting a Lifetime series about anorexia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Gold, who suffered from an eating disorder herself, will work with women battling anorexia on the reality show.

The actress wants to use the series as a platform to raise awareness. "My goal is to shed light on what an eating disorder looks like," Gold said.

During each hour-long episode, she’ll share her story with the women as they get treatment from specialists.

Though the subjects will be gaining fame for publicizing their struggles on a reality show, Gold says the show’s intent is reduce the appeal of anorexia. "We get in there with real women to show that it's not a glamorous thing,” she explains. “It's an isolating, lonely, hard, raw disease. It's not skinny women on a red carpet; it's an all-consuming thing in life where everything is falling down around you."

“Starving Secrets with Tracey Gold” premieres Friday at 10 p.m.
