Both small and large retailers are hoping that shoppers will spend big this coming Black Friday and Cyber Monday due to pent up demand.

Generally, consumer confidence has hit record lows in 2011 due to continuing high unemployment coupled with little or no home equity. Neither of those negative factors appear to end anytime in the near future.

If guests find a lower price on an identical item advertised locally by a competitor, Target will match that price during the effective date of the competitor’s advertisement.
Guests can bring their receipt and the competitor’s current printed advertisement within seven days of purchase and Target will reimburse the savings. The policy is enforced in all stores throughout the year.
The most aggressive marketing campaign so far amongst retailers comes from Walmart's 'Christmas Price Match Guarantee' announced this week.
If a customer buys an eligible product at Walmart anytime between November 1 and December 25, 2011, then finds that same product advertised for less at another store, Walmart will give the customer a gift card for the difference through December 25, 2011.
