Can Crystal Cathedral survive without its church?

(AP) GARDEN GROVE, Calif. — The future of Orange County's famous Crystal Cathedral is in a judge's hands.

A federal bankruptcy court judge will decide Thursday whether the home of the "Hour of Power" television broadcast is sold to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange or to Chapman University.

The outcome means a lot for Crystal Cathedral congregants.

Chapman, a Christian university, is willing to let Crystal Cathedral followers continue to use the gleaming glass church if its $59 million bid is accepted.

If the diocese buys the church for more than $57 million, it will let the churchgoers use nearby St. Callistus.

Members of the church fear the ministry will dwindle if they have to move and that the broadcast that funds 70 percent of revenue would lose viewers.
