Mark Ingram had 14 carries for a career

FLINT, Michigan — Former Grand Blanc and Flint Southwestern star Mark Ingram had 14 carries for a career-high 91 yards Sunday in the New Orleans Saints’ 62-7 dismantling of the winless — and Peyton Manning-less — Indianapolis Colts at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Ingram had a 20-yard run in the fourth quarter to set up Darren Sproles’ 16-yard touchdown scamper that vaulted the Saints (5-2) to a 54-7 lead.

Ingram, a rookie, had a previous high of 55 yards rushing which were posted in Week 4 during the Saints’ 23-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow thwarted Jake Long and the Miami Dolphins’ efforts to get their first win of the season Sunday in Miami.

Long, a Lapeer East grad and former University of Michigan star, helped his offense to a 15-0 lead, but Tebow threw two touchdown strikes in the final three minutes, pushing the Dolphins to an 0-6 record after an 18-15 overtime loss.

Long, one of the elite left tackles in the NFL, helped anchor a line that helped quarterback Matthew Moore throw for 197 yards and a touchdown.

Former Carman-Ainsworth and Grand Valley State star Brandon Carr had a tackle and interception Sunday in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 28-0 win over the Oakland Raiders in Oakland.

Carr, a cornerback, has 16 tackles and three pass deflections on the year for the Chiefs (3-3), who host the San Diego Chargers (4-2) at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Kansas City.
