Emma Watson :"I will miss Daniel and Rupert so, so much. And I will miss Hermione so much"

Flanked by co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the heartbroken actress thanked fans for their “loyalty and understanding”.

Earlier the movie’s cast had taken three hours to walk the gigantic red carpet, which ran from Trafalgar Square to Leicester Square, greeting 4,000 fans who’d come from all over the world to glimpse their idols.

Looking fabulous in an £8,000 Oscar de la Renta ice-blue dress, Emma, 21, said: “I’ve just had the most amazing 10 years of my life and I feel so grateful. I will miss Daniel and Rupert so, so much. And I will miss Hermione so much, she was like my little sister.”

She said they were “scheming” to work together again, but admitted: “It’s so sad it’s all over – it’s all sinking in for us only now. I feel heartbroken.”

As fans waved placards reading “Potter til I die” and “Harry Potter is over. See you in therapy”, Daniel, 21, who played Harry, got a massive cheer when he said: “Each and every person, not just in this square but around the world will carry the films with them for the rest of their lives.”

Rupert Grint said his character, Ron Weasley, would “always be with me”, adding: “But it is weird to think I’m not going to be wearing all that dodgy knitwear and being with Dan and Emma on the same set.”

On a deeply emotional night, the author JK Rowling also broke down as she thanked the actors for “the amazing things they did for my favourite characters”.

The eighth film of the series was premiered simultaneously in three West End cinemas as Central London became a wizarding wonderland.

The fans reserved special cheers for Jamie Campbell Bower who plays Gellert Grindelwald and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) who met on set and got engaged in April.

Caroline Malter, 19, from Guildford, Surrey, said: “Daniel Radcliffe was lovely, and quite short, and Emma Watson is beautiful in real life. “I’ve had the best night ever.”
