Valium the Culprit For John Galliano’s Anti-Semitic Rant?
Designer Galliano Says He Can't Recall Speaking Slurs (June 23, 2011) The fashion designer John Galliano defended himself Wednesday against hate-crime charges in Paris, saying that because of addictions he could not remember spewing anti-Semitic insults. Mr. Galliano, 50, apologized for the slurs and said he was in treatment for addictions to alcohol, sleeping pills and Valium. His one-day trial before three judges concerned incidents at a bar in October and February. He is accused of the crime of delivering public insults about religion, race or ethnicity. A verdict is to be issued Sept. 8.
