Game of Thrones writers David Benioff and DB Wiess spoke to ew.com after the season finale Sunday June 19th, and they talked about a lot including their plans and wants for season two.Based on season one and what they have planned for season two, the audience will be subjected to more dragons, growing dire wolves and battle scenes, more than we got in season one.
Though the season was good, both Benioff and DB Weiss felt constrained in regards to their budget because in order to do some of the effects justice they had to forgo some things, like the battles, though they did do the dragons justice.
According to Benioff "Ultimately we had to make some really tough decisions. We much rather have a great scene with our characters than a crappy version of the battle, we want to have some great battles, we're working very hard to have great battles in season two. We'd like to have more direwolves too."
Weiss added: "There's so many things we can do so much better than films. But there are a few things like battles and creatures where there's a brute force financial component to doing those well, and it involves being very creative and selective about how you show those things to make them achievable. We don't want them to look like a PlayStation 2 game, we want it to look at the same level as the rest of the show."
The good thing is that there is a season two, and the budget should be higher but even with that, in order to do book two justice, things may have to be left out in order to tell the bigger picture that there are battles between different factions throughout the realm, and then there is Dany on her own journey with her dragons. Based on their budget, how much time will be spent on her dragons and how much will be spent on other things is only a thought because we won't really know until the spring of 2012.
