Favorite tips from Doctor Oz

Today on the Dr. Oz Show, it was all about the Viewers and our all-time favorite tips from Doctor Oz! Plus, Doctor Oz talked about excessive sweating and revealed the best places to shop online for health products.

Tracy lost over 100 pounds after she show the Dr. Oz Show on Agave Nectar. She had a serious sugar addiction, so she started using agave syrup instead of sugar. She stopped buying smoothies and started making her own with agave syrup.

Kate saw the show on Konjac Root fiber, and taking it to feel full and regulate your sugar so you don’t crave sugar and carbs. She has lost 50 pounds and lowered her cholesterol levels too. She takes 2 grams of Konjac Root, which she says is 3 capsules before meals. She also uses shirataki noodles, which are made with kinjac root fiber for her stir fry. Konjac Root is also sold as Glucomannan, which we learned about on yesterday’s show.

Julia saw the show on anti-inflammatory spices, so she made a tea out of them and she says it has doubled her energy levels! Her tea ingredients are:

Just 3 or 4 shakes of each spice in the tea. She says it’s an acquired taste though, and Dr. Oz did not like it. He said it detonates on the taste buds.

Angela saw the show on checking your poop, and she started checking hers twice like Dr. Oz says to do. She saw blood, and after about six months of it, she finally told her doctor, who sent her to a specialist and they did find a large pre-cancerous polyp. Luckily they found it in time and she is still with her kids.

Female heart attack symptoms are different from men’s, so pay attention. The lady on the show (I don’t think they ever said her name) said she is an athlete and very much in shape, but saw his show on female heart attack symptoms and remembered them. A few months later, she had all the symptoms and went to the hospital. They didn’t think she was having a heart attack, but she insisted and turned out she was right. Dr. Oz’s show saved her life!

David had to have a quintuple bypass after he gained too much weight post-retirement. He repaired his heart and has lost over 80 pounds. David loves to eat, so he says he took approximately 70 of his favorite recipes and “Oz-ified” them. He substituted whole grains for refined flours and grains, reduced or removed sugar and he substituted good fats for bad fats and reduced the quantity.

The organ responsible for sweating is the brain. The hypothalamus regulates body temperature. Dr. Oz says that when you drink coffee it messes up your metabolism so you sweat a little. Inflammation in the body also causes sweating, so eat a tablespoon of flaxseed every day.

Medications can also cause excessive perspiration, especially allergy medicine and blood pressure medicine. Key ingredients are oxymetazoline, and pseudoephedrine.

The number one mistake people make is not using the right amount of deodorant or antiperspirant. The aluminum chloride antiperspirant is what stops the sweating, so you need a higher concentration of it than what might be found in regular strength products. Look for the clinical strength products or get a prescription from your doctor.

There are some herbs with natural healing ability for common infections, and you can possibly use these instead of taking prescriptions. Dr. Oz recommends trying these natural ones first.

Manuka Honey: works on cuts and scrapes. Apply about a tablespoon of the honey to your cut and cover with gauze. Change three times daily.

Goldenseal: works on sore throats. Gargle with it. Mix a half teaspoon of goldenseal powder and a pinch of salt into a glass of warm water and gargle three or four times daily.

Andrographis: works on respiratory infections. It is also anti-inflammatory. Make a tea with it, using about a tablespoon. Apparently it tastes NASTY, but you have to drink it three times a day. You can take it in capsule form though.
