During TOSCA's 33-year history

The Topeka Opera Society Concert Association will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Marvin Auditorium of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th, to present a tribute to James Seaver, the University of Kansas professor who from 1952 until his death in March was host of the weekly radio program, "Opera is My Hobby," on Kansas Public Radio.

Seavers' vast collection of opera recordings allowed him to share many of the great voices of the past with his listeners. The Seaver Opera Collection has been donated to the Archive of Recorded Sound at KU.

During TOSCA's 33-year history, Seaver presented many programs for the group and was preparing one at the time of his death. A short film about Seaver's life created by his sons to celebrate the professor's 90th birthday will be shown at the tribute, to which the public is invited. A light reception will follow the free program.
