Faith Evans and husband Todd Russaw have decided to split

Singer Faith Evans and husband Todd Russaw have decided to split after spending 12 years of married life together. Evans and her husband Russaw, who is also her manager, have asked for privacy regarding their divorce.Following reports that the Evans and Russaw had broken up, the two issued a mutual statement regarding their split in which they stated how difficult it was for them to decide to end their marriage.“The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone’s life.

However, after a great deal of thought and careful consideration, we have come to the decision to end our marriage together," the statement read.Faith Evans and Todd Russaw have two children together. Moreover, Evans is the mother of another daughter from a past relationship and a son Christopher Wallace, Jr. with slain rapper Notorious B.I.G.

The singer started dating Russaw in 1997 shortly after the death of Wallace, the then estranged husband of Evans.Evans and Russaw had supported each other in some hard times, counting Evans being charged for apparent drunk driving the previous year and detention of the couple in 2004 for suspected drug possession after which the two settled to join a drug rehab line up.The couple expresses their commitment to parent their children and support each other in their career.

“We will both remain committed to parenting our children and will also continue to support each other’s professional endeavors," the couple said in their mutual statement.The divorce papers filed in court suggest that the singer is asking for mutual legal custody in addition to sole physical custody of their children. Furthermore the documents state that the two were estranged and living apart since 2005.Faith Evans, 37, and Russaw also asked the press to respect their privacy since it is their personal issue."We consider this a private matter and we will not make any further statement regarding the matter," they said.

“We would appreciate the press respecting the privacy of our family, particularly our children, as we attempt to handle our situation with respect and dignity.”Born in 1973 in New Jersey, Faith Evans moved to Los Angeles in 1993 and started her career in the business of music. She is a singer, songwriter and record producer in addition to being author and actress. Evans released her last album 'Something About Faith' in 2010. The album garnered widespread attention and brought her a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 2011 for her single 'Gone Already.
