New Beetle have the problems?

Air bag warning light in dash came on after jump start required for weak (now replaced) battery and has not gone off. Light had been functioning properly before this. Just very recently bought this '01 GLS for my daughter's first car.

Fuel gauge pointing at 6 o'clock after jump start and new battery -- what is this??
