USS Blue Ridge Docks At Port Klang,Malaysia


March 7 (Bernama) — The USS Blue Ridge, the command ship of the United States 7th Fleet today docked at Port Klang Cruise Centre (PKCC) near here, as part of its scheduled visit to Malaysia.

Commander of 7th Fleet, Vice Admiral Scott R. Van Buskirk said the three day visit was to enhance military ties between the United States and Malaysia.

“The USS Blue Ridge made its last port call to Malaysia in 2009 and we are happy to be back here again, ” he told reporters after hosting a dinner reception for Malaysian dignitaries and members of the media on board the ship at PKCC tonight.

The USS Blue Ridge’s primary role is to provide command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) support to the commander and staff of the 7th Fleet.

The 7th Fleet is the US Navy’s permanent forward projection force based in Yokosuka, Japan, with units positioned near South Korea and Japan. It is a component of the US Pacific Fleet.
