CAMILLA BELLE, at age 21, is already an internationally knownactress. She recently starred in the hit remake of the 1979 thriller “Whena Stranger Calls,” which opened at the top of the box officein February 2006. Belle next stars in the sci-fi thriller “Push,”opposite DjimonHounsou, DakotaFanning and ChrisEvans.
In 2005, Belle starred in three very different independentfeatures. She garnered acclaim for her work opposite DanielDay-Lewis in “TheBallad of Jack and Rose,” directed by Rebecca Miller. Shejoined the ensemble cast of “TheChumscrubber,” also including RalphFiennes, GlennClose, JamieBell, AllisonJanney and Carrie-AnneMoss. She then starred with ElishaCuthbert and EdieFalco in “TheQuiet,” which premiered at the 2005 Toronto InternationalFilm Festival.
Belle has also made quite a splash lately on the fashionscene. Her sophisticated style has been lauded by some of the topfashion magazines in the world, including her being named one ofVogue’s best dressed of 2006. She can currently be seen as the face ofVera Wang’s Princess fragrance campaign and was previously the face ofMiu Miu’s Spring 2006 collection, alongside KimBasinger.
Born in California, Camilla (pronounced Ca-MEE-la) Bellespeaks several languages fluently, including Spanish and Portuguese.Her father is a songwriter and her mother hails from Brazil, a countrythat embraces the young actress as one of its own. With her strikinglyexotic features, Belle appeared in her first print ad at only ninemonths old. She progressed to commercials and then began acting intelevision and cable movies, starting with “Trapped Beneath the Earth,”starring KrisKristofferson.
She went on to appear in the longform television projects”Empty Cradle,” “Deconstructing Sarah” and “Annie: A Royal Adventure”before making her feature film debut in Alfonso Cuaron’s acclaimedretelling of the classic Shirley Temple film “ALittle Princess.” She followed with the feature “Poison IvyII,” with AlyssaMilano, and the telefilm “Marshal Law,” starring Jimmy Smits.
In 1997, Belle landed a role in StevenSpielberg’s blockbuster hit sequel “TheLost World: Jurassic Park.” The next year, she co-starredwith SandraBullock and NicoleKidman in Griffin Dunne’s hit “PracticalMagic,” earning a nomination for a Young Artist Award.Belle’s additional credits include the features “The Patriot,” oppositeStevenSeagal; “Secret of the Andes”; “TheInvisible Circus,” opposite CameronDiaz; and “Back to the Secret Garden.” She also starred inthe telefilms “Replacing Dad” and “Rip Girls,” earning Young ArtistAward nominations for both.
In 2002, Belle attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts inLondon, where she performed scenes from such plays as “The Crucible”and “12 Angry Men.”
