Antigua Group extends PGA apparel license agreement

Sports and lifestyle apparel manufacturer the Antigua Group has agreed an extension to its non-exclusive licensing deal with the PGA of America, continuing its ongoing partnership.

Having agreed an initial three-year retail partnership in 2009 with the PGA Tour, along with five other licensees, Antigua Group will now be able to sell its apparel, including PGA logoed outfits, at the 2011 and 2012 PGA Championships and the 2012 Ryder Cup following the contract extension.

Antigua Group has had a long-standing association with golf, and the 2011 PGA Championship in Atlanta, Georgia will be the 17th year in succession that the company has sold its apparel onsite at the tournament. It has sold products at every US-based Ryder Cup since 1991.

"The Antigua brand symbolises excellence in apparel, which is a positive reflection of the high standing and regard the PGA of America and our 27,000 men and women professionals hold as the recognized experts in the game and business of golf," said PGA of America president Allen Wronowski.

In addition to the non-exclusive licensing agreement, Antigua Group will remain as a presenting partner of the Golf Retirement Plus Programme for another three-years, having been the first apparel brand to support the programme in 1998.

"We are thrilled by the Antigua Group's long-standing commitment to provide first-class logoed apparel at both the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup, and are also greatly appreciative of Antigua's continued support of the financial goals and dreams of PGA members through Golf Retirement Plus. All of us at Antigua are very proud of our long-lasting relationship with The PGA of America, and we look forward to continued, mutual success," Wronowksi added.

Ron McPherson, president and chief executive of the Antigua Group, commented: "All of us at Antigua are very proud of our long-lasting relationship with The PGA of America, and we look forward to continued, mutual success.”

The 2011 PGA Championship is scheduled to begin at the Atlantic Athletic Club in Georgia on 11th August, with the 2012 tournament taking place at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, South Carolina.
