Stuart Scott Cancer

There are 28000000 cancer survivors around the world,” ESPN's Stuart Scott said in a statement. “You know what that means .. we have a strong army! Again, I join the fight as well as 3 years ago, I intend to beat this thing.

  1. I don’t particular enjoy Scott as a broadcaster. As is so common with ESPN anchors, at some point the schtick stopped being cute and it became more about him than about the sports. I don’t mind schtick, but not when it gets to the point where the highlights become just an opportunity for Scott to showcase his latest catchphrase, and not at the point where sports becomes The Stuart Scott Show. For me, sportscasters (and newscasters) should be the way we think of the referees in sports: when they’re doing their job properly, I shouldn’t know they’re there, and afterwards, I shouldn’t remember who it was. (I’m fully aware I’m in the minority here.)
That said, I certainly don’t wish him ill, and I hope he makes a full recovery. Best wishes to him.
