Strikeforce 'Diaz vs Cyborg'

Did he ever.

Herschel Walker came into his second professional mixed martial arts fight with something to prove to all the doubters. And he did just that, walking right through Scott Carson at Strikeforce: "Diaz vs Cyborg" with a dominant first round knockout.

Unfortunately, much of the talk leading into the contest was not about how the former Heisman Trophy winner would do once he stepped in the cage. Instead, it was concentrated on an off-hand remark about a comeback to pro football at the ripe old age of 48.

Walker made it clear tonight that fighting, not toting the pigskin, is his future ... for now.

Star-divide

As soon as the fight was underway, Walker was quick to get across the cage start slinging leather. Carson, anxious to respond, threw a right hand that missed badly.

That was pretty much all the offense out of Mr. Carson.

Walker landed a left hand to the temple that dropped Carson. He jumped all over his fallen opponent and never let off the gas. After pounding on him for a short time, Walker let Carson back up. One more big punch and the ref decided he had seen enough, calling a stop to the fight much to the delight of Walker and more than likely everyone else watching.

That marks two wins in two trips to the cage for the former football great. Walker isn't about to challenge for a world title any day soon, but his burning desire and ability to compete at such a high level -- and at such an advanced age -- has attracted a tremendous amount of attention.

What, and who, is next?
